Calvin de Haan was drafted 12th overall by the New York Islanders at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, and made his NHL debut against the Dallas Stars in December 2011. De Haan remained with the New York Islanders until July 2018 when he inked a four-year contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. In 2019, De Haan signed with the Chicago Blackhawks where he is currently playing. International play saw De Haan represent the Canadian Junior team at the 2009 IIHF World U18 Championships, scoring six assists in six games. In 2010 as part of Team Canada, he won a silver medal at the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.
